I shared last week a slow living home tour in California. It was pretty, it felt peaceful and homey and I think I just didn’t have enough of the subject. So, like a dog with a bone, I searched high and low for other homes that exude the same sense of place, that sense of being home but not being taken hostage by your home through its sheer number of objects, its expenses or its upkeep. And I found the home of Irene Mertens, owner of Sukha, her partner Gabriel and their little Juul. Located in an abandoned garage, the eco home was created out of what most would have just bulldozed over. Light, bright, deconstructed, natural, organic, and with a touch of whimsy, the home inspires just good vibes all the while with a high design aesthetics.
